A registered office address is a legal requirement for all companies registered in the UK – it’s the address HMRC, Companies House and other government bodies will use for all official correspondence

Do I Need To Purchase A Registered Office Address?

No – you are welcome to use your home address or the premises from which you will conduct your business. However, in order to promote transparency, companies are required to display their registered office address on the Companies House register of companies. If you do not wish to display your home address to the public or overwhelm it with business mail, you may wish to consider purchasing a registered office address service.

Does My Registered Office Address Need To Be In The UK?

A UK company requires a UK registered office address. Your registered office address should be in the country within which the company was registered. For example, companies formed in Scotland should have a Scottish address.

Does My Registered Office Address Need To Be A Physical Address?

Yes. Official correspondence, such as letters from government agencies like Companies House and HMRC will be sent to your registered office address, so it needs to be somewhere that can receive post.

Does My Registered Office Address Need To Be The Same As My Trading Address?

No. Your registered office address can be different to the address from which you actually conduct your business. For example, you may run a small business from your home but wish to keep your home address private, so you purchase a separate registered office address service to use on the public register of companies.

What Types Of Company Require A Registered Office Address?

If you are forming a private limited company, public limited company, limited liability partnership or limited by guarantee company, you are legally required to have a registered office address.

What Mail Will You Forward To Me?

Our registered office services include the right to use the address as your registered office and the forwarding of all official correspondence from HMRC and Companies House.

If you wish to receive general business mail to your registered office, we are introducing a new Mail Forwarding Service from 3rd July.

Parcels are not accepted at any of our addresses.

This service is available for existing customers of @UKplc Company Registrations only.
